Baby Updates

Well, I'm officially over 34 weeks! How crazy is that? In 6 weeks OR LESS I'm going to be having a baby...Whoa, talk about reality check. Time has flown by, and I'm hoping the rest of this pregnancy is going to go smoothly. So far, I think things have been fine. I've never been pregnant, and there's nothing to compare it to, but I feel like it wasn't that bad. Sure, I'm uncomfortable the majority of the time, but it's not like it's too distracting to live my life.

The last ultrasound did scare us a little bit. The doctor told me my amniotic fluid was in the high range. I guess the normal is 25, and I'm around a 32 or so. To be extra cautious, our doctor referred us to a specialist. We went over there, and had ANOTHER ultrasound done, this time, with a much more powerful ultrasound machine. First of all, this ultrasound was NOT comfortable. I had to lay on my back, while they pushed on my stomach. I felt like I was going to pass out. On the bright side, however, we did get a bunch of 3-D photos of the baby. I hate to brag, but the ultrasound tech DID say we had a beautiful baby. She might have meant it, or she says it to every couple she sees, but it was nice to hear either way.

The doctor talked to us, and it seems like the reason for all the extra fluid is...there is no reason. I'm just producing a lot of fluid. He does want me to be monitored every week from now until delivery, but it seems like there really isn't a problem.

They hooked me up to a baby monitor at our last appointment. I thought that was the most fun I've had at the doctor! I got to sit in a nice, cushy, reclining seat, sip ice water, watch t.v. and read magazines. All the while, they put this belt-type thing around me to measure the baby's movement/heart rate. They used this buzzer type thing to wake up him/her, and boy did he/she react. Our little one literally jumped once the nurse touched me with the buzzer. I hope they will use that again.

The nurse said, like always, there isn't a movement problem. I never worry about the movement. Everyone tells me (doctors, nurses, ultrasound techs) we have a VERY active baby, and I can feel that kiddo kicking, moving, and shifting about ALL THE TIME. In fact, this little baby has officially become my own personal alarm clock. Around the time my alarm clock goes off, so does the baby. My little alarm clock isn't programmed super well however, many times it will start in on the kicking the same time I want to go to bed. This obviously isn't ideal.

All in all, I'm feeling good (minus the fatigue, but I partially blame that on the holidays and teaching kids around the holidays). I HOPE HOPE HOPE the next 6 weeks go by smoothly! Here's one of the 3-D pictures we were given.

I think this one's my favorite. I love how he/she is sucking on their fingers!

I think your baby looks like a SHE... so cute. I love the technology today so we can see the cuteness in the baby before the baby makes an apperance. Super excited for you all.

That's a pretty cool picture! We didn't get anything like that done. I guess we'll just have to wait for him to come on out!

I am so excited for you - although I will throw a word of caution out there to you, Its very likely you will go OVERDUE> I did with both kids. So - my advice I always give to expecting Moms is to expect 41 1/2 weeks - anything less is a surprise!! And Dr's won't let you go farther than that - so you know you wont be disappointed like I was if your baby comes late. Happy Homestretch!!
